Sandburg Regional High School celebrates 59 graduates

Strong support from family and friends was on display as the 59 members of the Sandburg Regional High School (SRHS) class of 2026 received diplomas in a ceremony held at Anoka Technical College on Wednesday, June 3. 

It was the third-ever commencement ceremony for SRHS as the school was renamed and relocated to downtown Anoka at the start of the 2023-24 school year.  

Why it matters: Located in downtown Anoka in the historic Sandburg Education Center, SRHS serves the entire school district, providing a smaller high school setting and personalized instruction to guide students toward graduation. The program has grown in enrollment and student learning opportunities since making the move to the Sandburg facility.

The big event: The commencement ceremony featured opportunities for student leadership. 

• Graduating seniors Linmor Diggs and Jolina Dorbor were featured speakers and Socorro Hernandez led the senior reflection. 
• Dereck Vasquez Guerra led the Pledge of Allegiance. School Board members Linda Hoeckman, Dr. Michelle Langenfeld and Jeff Simon joined Assistant Superintendent Dr. Annette Ziegler, SRHS principal Heather Forse, SRHS assistant principal Joe Millard, and teachers and staff in congratulating the students on their accomplishments.
